Japan’s Mitsubishi to build new leisure, retail hubs in Karuizawa, Akasaka

Mitsubishi Estate is constructing a shopping mall at the north exit of Karuizawa station, with completion due in Spring 2026.

Aqua Ignis and Culture Convenience Club will operate the site, which will include hot springs, hotel, shops and eateries.

And in Tokyo, Mitsubishi Estate and TBS Holdings have confirmed plans to build a major new landmark near Akasaka station.

The project will include two large towers, with completion due in 2028.

Dubbed Akasaka Entertainment City, the complex will include a new theatre and hall, a hub for entertainment-related start-ups, shopping and a plaza of 5,000 sqm in front of the station.
