Dubbed ‘Issey Miyake Ginza / 442’, the new store is named after its new address and is located just around the corner of the Issey Miyake store on Gasuto Dori Street. Spanning four levels, the new store is inspired by “the sophistication and the playfulness of Ginza, as well as what we as a company aspire for in the future,”said the brand in statement.

Designed by Japanese designer and artist, Tokujin Yoshioka, the store space integrates solid aluminum panels into its minimalist design, to reflect the design elements of the label’s aesthetic.

“An ecologically sustainable, recycled aluminum molding in an extended form,” said Yoshioka. “The metallic, modern space with aluminum panels that penetrate the space in a band like shape reflects the future,” he added, describing the design and layout.

Inside, the store will stock a range of Issey Miyake brands. The ground floor is home to the latest Pleats Please Issey Miyake collection, alongside bags; Issey Miyake womenswear spans the first floor; A-poc Able Issey Miyake is on the second floor; plus menswear, watches and glasses are found on the basement level.

There’s also a new gallery space, called Cube, that exhibits work of not only Issey Miyake brands but also other practices of design, arts, and crafts.

“Cube is a space that shows and tells the process of design and making—both in thinking and in practice,” said the brand in a press release.

“It is a place of discovery and development, a site of creative work, and a space open to exchange of ideas.”

As its first exhibition, Cube will present ‘Ikko Tanaka Issey Miyake No. 6.’

The Issey Miyake Ginza / 442 store opened its doors on February 3.
