Lanvin names Peter Copping new artistic director

China’s Lanvin Group has announced the appointment of Peter Copping to the role of artistic director of its French luxury brand, Lanvin.

The British designer will take the role as the creative lead for womenswear and menswear collections, starting from September.

A graduate of Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London, Copping began his career at Sonia Rykiel and then spent over a decade at Louis Vuitton with Marc Jacobs as head of womenswear.

From here, he was named creative director of Nina Ricci in Paris and Oscar de la Renta in New York, where de la Renta, designated Copping his successor. Most recently, Copping served as head of couture at Balenciaga, where he directed the ateliers for the reintroduction of the couture collection.

Copping succeeds Bruno Sialelli, who after four years was dismissed in April, 2023.

In its most recent trading update, Lanvin Group, which owns Lanvin, Wolford, Sergio Rossi, St. John, and Caruso, achieved a revenue of EUR 426 million, displaying a modest 1 percent year-over-year increase compared to 2022. The Asia-Pacific region emerged as a strong performer for the group, with a solid growth rate of nearly 8 percent.
