“Every level of this project was designed to give shoppers a sense of calm and serenity from the moment they arrive, either from the ground level, MTR or the carpark,” said 10 Design’s design principal, Lukasz Wawrzenczyk. “The design for MixC Changzhou is rooted in the local culture and we’re proud to create a new urban landmark that elevates the quality of life for the citizens of Changzhou.”

Drawing inspiration from the storied tea culture of the region, the project unfurls a tapestry of immersive environments and encounters tailored to the discerning tastes of the next wave of consumers in China

Said Chin Yong Ng, design principal – retail: “Our design ethos delves into the spiritual essence of the land, infusing each corner with bespoke details and artisanal craftsmanship to cultivate a retail ambiance steeped in regional essence. Embodying the artistry of the locale, our design narrative celebrates a palpable sense of place, tracing the profound journey of tea and water while inviting patrons to savour the latent poetry and philosophy encapsulated within the aesthetic tapestry.”

Embracing a layout characterised by two expansive wings flanking a central lobby, the design palette of MixC Changzhou radiates with luminous finishes and sinuous void forms, complemented by contemporary recessed lighting accents.

The contours of the viewing terraces evoke the undulating majesty of tea-clad mountains and the enveloping embrace of nature. At the heart of the main atrium, twin glass bridges aglow with ethereal luminescence create a crystalline illusion, casting a spell of enchantment upon visitors.

Bathed in natural light cascading through a constellation of skylights, the atrium’s roof system, adorned with leaf-shaped aluminium panels, serves a dual purpose of shading and spectacle.

A grand entrance adorned with light-hued stone motifs arranged in a dynamic angular motif, reminiscent of tea leaves, sets the thematic tone.

The South Atrium, drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese metal tea caddies, divides sections of the space to curate a bespoke retail experience for F&B tenants against a backdrop of semi-open vistas.
