The US tech giant Meta confirmed on Tuesday that WhatsApp sufferd from a global outage.
“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble sending messages and we’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible” said Meta’s spokesman.

On Tuesday morning, the monitoring site Downdetector and users reported problems with the service. According to Downdetector, thousands of WhatsApp users have reported problems since 0717 GMT. Several users reported that the service was restored around 0850 GMT after being unable to connect to the app or send messages.
Tweets about #whatsappdown trended worldwide on Tuesday, while millions of Instagram messages also reported the outage. In the coming hours, Twitter gained a flurry of new connections as a result of the technical difficulties.
Meta, formerly known as Facebook, suffered an unprecedented outage last year, affecting Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Downdetector described the disruption to the four services used by billions of people as one of the largest ever observed.

In February 2020, WhatsApp, a free messaging service, reached the milestone of two billion users worldwide, becoming one of the most popular apps for smartphones. Facebook acknowledged that the incident was not a technical issue, but a simple error on Facebook’s part.
