International soccer icon and China Super League star Tim Cahill is entering the China fashion market through a partnership with JD.com.

Cahill will launch his CAHILL+ brand in the online store, which will be the first sales outlet of the brand in China. The fashion line was conceptualized in New York while he was playing for the city’s Redbull’s soccer team.

Since his days in London playing for the Premier League club Everton, Tim has worked alongside key fashion icons such as Georgio Armani, where he was the brand ambassador for 8 years. Immersing himself in the vibrant New York fashion scene, Tim conceptualized a “sport-luxe” inspired fashion brand.

“Being a professional footballer since I was 18, my experience in fashion has evolved from being a consumer to now a brand owner,” he said, adding that the brand is all about taking a footballer’s lifestyle and creating a designer collection which has elements of sportswear, designer fashion and, menswear designs he would love to buy and wear for himself.

Lijun Xin, President of JD.com’s Apparel and Home Furnishing Business Unit, said Chinese consumers are increasingly focused on quality and style, and that they see a huge opportunity for emerging brands like CAHILL+ to build on this trend.
