Malhotra assumed the role at the luxury department store in January 2021, reporting to Sir Dickson Poon, who has served as the chairman and owner of Harvey Nichols since 1991.

Having been associated with Harvey Nichols for 25 years, Malhotra will conclude her tenure at the end of the year. She previously served as co-COO alongside Daniela Rinaldi before assuming the CEO role in January 2020. Malhotra’s appointment coincided with the onset of the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, which posed significant challenges for the retail industry.

In the interim, Pearson Poon, Sir Dickson Poon’s 29-year-old son, will assume the position of vice chairman until a new CEO is appointed.

Pearson Poon was appointed executive director at the company in December 2018, at the age of 24. Poon, who attended the University of Cambridge, worked in Goldman Sachs’ investment banking division prior to joining Dickson Concepts as a general manager in 2016.

Dickson Poon established his own brand, Dickson Watch & Jewellery, in 1980, initially with a standalone store and later expanding its reach through franchising and licensing agreements. Launching an IPO in 1986 enabled the acquisition of the French luxury brand ST Dupont in 1987, and in 1991, Dickson Concepts added Harvey Nichols to its portfolio.
