GM considers driving Cadillac into India

US auto major General Motors – present in the Indian market only through the Chevrolet brand – has said that it is considering introducing its "Cadillac" brand of luxury cars to India.

The company, which earlier also sold cars under the Opel brand, feels that Cadillac has a brand recall and heritage value in the country.

Karl Slym, president and managing director of GM India says, "We have done some market research about introducing other GM brands in India. We’re not rushing into that, but Cadillac is a brand that has recognition in India. We don’t want to blast a lot of brands in the market, certainly not at this stage."
