Starbucks is gearing up to put its first China-grown blend on sale in Hong Kong.
The romantically named South of the Clouds Blend is a mix of whole beans grown in the southwestern province of Yunnan and the Asia-Pacific region. Starbucks Hong Kong said the Yunnan blend had received an "overwhelming response" in a trial sale during the Lunar New Year, which prompted the company to turn it into a regular product.
With an ambitious expansion plan for China, Starbucks will test the new blend’s market potential with a view to putting Chinese coffee on the world stage.
