More commercial zones, featuring international luxury brands, will be added to Hongqiao International Airport’s Terminal two by the end of the year to further bolster Shanghai’s competitiveness as an air traffic hub.
Business recruitment for the 1,300-square-metre new area has been completed. Stores that have signed on will be open by year’s end to give departing passengers more shopping choices, according to the airport’s business developer.
About 90 percent of traffic at Hongqiao consists of regional flights, which puts the airport far behind its counterparts in duty-free business income.
