South Korea’s annual consumer price inflation in February rose more than expected to a 27-month peak as higher commodities prices passed into other sectors, boosting the case for an interest rate rise this month.
The consumer price index rose 4.5 percent in February from a year earlier, government data showed on Wednesday, topping the median 4.3 percent forecast from a Reuters poll and staying far above the 4 percent ceiling of the central bank’s target band.
