Nestle to expand capacity, plans two plants next year

Nestle India is set to expand its manufacturing capacity and open two new plants by 2011-12.

“We are going to have to expand capacity just as many companies are doing. Nestle believes in India and we have to open two more plants,” said Mr Antonio Helio Waszyk, Chairman and Managing Director of Nestle India, in his first interaction with the media on Wednesday.

Mr Waszyk, however, did not reveal the location of the two upcoming plants and said the company was still in talks with State Governments for setting up the plants. “The new plants would manufacture chocolates, confectionaries and noodles and our other products. The two more plants would come up by 2011-12 because of the construction time,” he said. The plants are expected to up the company’s capacity by 20-30 per cent.
