Indian auto major Tata reports Jaguar Land Rover global sales rise in March

Indian auto major Tata Motors has reported increased global sales of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) vehicles in March, a signal that the two British brands are poised for good growth in the coming months.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the company said that JLR sales numbers in March were 23,538 vehicles, up 43 percent over March 2009. While Jaguar sales increased 8 percent to 4,642 units, Land Rover’s were up 55 percent to 18,896 units.

Cumulative sales of the brands were, however, down 11 percent for the fiscal year to 193,982 vehicles, with a steeper fall for Jaguar (24 percent) to 47,418 cars. Cumulative sales of Land Rover were down 6 per ent to 146,564 units.
