This Fall, TUMI announces a new collaboration with local Hong Kong artist Bao Ho.
The TUMI x Bao capsule collection is inspired by the freedom and exhilaration of travel and showcases Bao’s expressive signature style on a curated selection of popular TUMI styles.
“Collaborating with Bao Ho, we set out to create something really fun and dynamic which would encapsulate all the excitement and joy of travel,” said Victor Sanz, TUMI Creative Director.
“Bao’s distinctive style and intricate characters really give these pieces a new dimension and a unique identity that we feel will resonate with our customers,” he continued.
Revolving around her imaginative robot character, Bao’s fun and dynamic street art-inspired illustrations compliment TUMI’s stylish products, which feature five brand favorites and a fun accessory.
Defined by a vivid “Bao blue” colorway, the collection is exclusive to the new TUMI
Store at K11 MUSEA.
“Before becoming an artist, I was working without the freedom to create what I liked. After I started traveling, I saw a different world which inspired me to follow my dreams. Collaborating with TUMI reminds me of how important travel has been to my personal journey- this sparked the idea to create a luggage robot for the TUMI x Bao collection,” said Bao Ho, artist.
“If I could send a gift to my past self, it would be this robot who could accompany me everywhere and encourage me to be brave and follow my true path. When we open our luggage to pack, we get that excited feeling that we’re about to embark on a journey, so inside there are little creatures flying and flowers blooming. It feels like all of our ideas are exploding and we are ready to open our minds to see a different world,” continued Bao Ho.
The TUMI x Bao collection fuses a touch of street style with the innovative design
character that TUMI is known for.
To complement the exclusive capsule, Bao has created a custom work of art that features prominently in the new TUMI store at K11 MUSEA.
Over the next few months, Bao’s whimsical illustrations will be projected onto the store’s kinetic backwall. This customized eight meter-long backwall contains 45 suitcase shaped structures, inspired by TUMI’s 19 Degree Collection. The structures rotate constantly creating a living canvas for Bao’s artwork.
Throughout the year, TUMI will collaborate with different artists to bring fresh artwork into the store, giving fans something new to discover upon every visit.
