Cashless-payment service provider Bangkok Smartcard System (BSS) has announced it has partnered with Australian technology firm Vix ERG for the design and delivery of a smartcard clearing-house solution for micropayments.
The clearing-house solution is based on Vix ERG’s MASS system, which has been implemented in 11 cities in five countries, most famously in Beijing, where it currently processes over nine million transactions daily.
"The system will initially provide support for an integrated payments solution for the Bangkok Mass Transit System Company Ltd and Bangkok Metro Company Ltd transit systems," said Nelson Leung, executive director of BSS. "Over time the system will be extended to provide support for other transit modes and to support micropayments generally," he added.
