Sneak preview of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics team kits

The final countdown has begun as the 2022 Winter Olympics will kick off on 4th February. Fashion will be front and center in Beijing as some of the biggest sportswear brands will be dressing some of the world’s best athletes. Ahead of the Winter Olympic Games, global sportswear brands have unveiled the opening and closing ceremony styles, podium outfits, village gear and different uniform kits to support the athletes during their performance. Here, we have rounded up some of the teams’ outfits.

ANTA x Team China

Chinese sportswear company ANTA is the official sportswear partner of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics Games and Paralympics Winter Games, the highest level of sponsorship available for the Games.

In addition, ANTA Sports will provide Chinese athletes with first-class sports equipment. Team China’s uniforms feature 12 team kits for 15 events and the podium uniform ” China Dragon Clothes”.

ANTA also created lights, warm and structured kits for athletes in indoor events while applying its advanced technologies and double-layered cotton materials to create water-repellant and windproof outfits for outdoor games.

Lululemon unveiled its Beijing 2022 Team Canada x lululemon Collection in October 2021.

For the Opening Ceremony, Team Canada will be dressed brightly in red with the Team Canada 22 Down Jacket layered on top of the Team Canada 22 Transformable Parka, both of which are water-repellant and windproof. For the celebration of the Closing Ceremony, the Team Canada 22 Down Jacket and Team Canada Transformable Parka are back, but this time in a white version of the maple metamorphosis print. A couple of other accessories to note in the kit are a Wool-Blend Reversible Beanie which can be worn as red or white with a simple flip inside out and Quilted Mittens on a String.

Lululemon is the Official Outfitter of Team Canada through the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Le Coq Sportif x Team France

For the first time in 50 years, the French team will be dressed in outfits manufactured by Le Coq Sportif, the “storied French sportswear brand” created more than 70 years ago. Designed with the blue-white-red rays, the collection features a tricolor asymmetry with a French national flag placed on shoulders, paying tribute to the home country. The collection includes hoodie, round neck sweatshirt, down jacket, bandana and more.

Sportswear brand adidas will sponsor Team Great Britain’s uniform kit, designed to support British athletes during the Olympic Games.

Fusing a modern representation of Britain’s Union flag, the team kit includes a “Podium” hooded and mid-layer jacket with designs incorporating insulation made from recycled ocean plastic. The items’ dominant colorway of navy blue offsets the sky blue, white and vibrant red flecks that appear throughout the sleeves and uniform legs, and the high-performance insulation allows for garment breathability, durability and thermal efficiency.

EA7 Emporio Armani x Team Italy

Following the Tokyo Olympics 2020, Emporio Armani will continue its partnership with Team Italy for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. The kit is part of the brand’s EA7 collection featuring tracksuits, sneakers, and more. This is the continuation of the collaboration between Giorgio Armani and CONI, which first started at the London 2012 Olympic Games and continued with the Sochi 2014 Winter Games, the Rio 2016 Summer Games and the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Games. The extension of the partnership agreement between Giorgio Armani and CONI was signed in 2020 with EA7 Emporio Armani confirmed as the official outfitter of the Italian Olympic team until September 2022.

UNIQLO x Team Sweden

Japan fashion giant, UNIQLO, revealed its official collection for the Swedish Olympic and Paralympic teams in November 2021. The Beijing Games will mark the second Olympics in which Uniqlo is the official clothing sponsor for Team Sweden, after the Tokyo Games this past summer.

With quality, innovation, and sustainability in mind, UNIQLO developed a layering-system lineup for the kits that could regulate body temperature. In addition the brand used new fabrics to ensure comfort for the athletes in any environment.

Apart from Team Sweden’s official clothing for medal ceremonies, media appearances and other non-competition events, Uniqlo has also designed the team’s competition wear for ski & snowboarding, mogul, and curling events.

Albright (Ochsner Sport) x Team Switzerland

Ochsner Sport will provide official clothing for the Swiss Olympic and Paralympic teams through its Albright brand for Beijing 2022. It will be the first time that Switzerland’s delegations will wear clothes from a Swiss brand at a Winter Olympic or Paralympic Games.

The collection is designed in red and white colors with parts in black and gray tones. It features almost 30 items, from roll bags to winter hats, gloves, jackets, hoodies, functional underwear, boot bags, winter shoes, and more.

Ralph Lauren x Team USA

Ralph Lauren unveiled the Team USA Closing Ceremony Parade Uniforms in October 2021, featuring a buffalo plaid hooded puffer jacket in red, white and blue color, with a fleece pant for men and fleece legging for women, in addition to gloves, boot, intarsia turtleneck sweater and a hat.

Since 2008, Ralph Lauren has become the official outfitter of Team USA. In line with the brand’s commitment to sustainability, the Closing Ceremony Parade uniforms are made with sustainable materials and manufacturing practices

Zasport x Team Russia

Russia has teamed up again with Zasport, the outfitter of the Russian Olympic Team since 2017. The collection features apparel and accessories including an onesie, bum bags, full-face ski masks, T-shirts and hoodies.

Russia’s logo or flag will not appear on the apparels. Instead, it will be designed as the Russian Olympic Committee’s three flames in red, white, blue and gray.

Ben Sherman x Team Great Britain

Team Great Britain will wear uniforms from fashion brand Ben Sherman during the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

For the opening ceremony the athletes will wear a cream deep-roll sweater with a deconstructed Union Flag covering the front, a pair of mini-dogtooth pants and a quilted caban in navy blue with the “Great Britain” logo in gold lettering on the back. To complete the look a wool hat and scarf with the logo of the national team and a pair of Chelsea Boots.

During the closing ceremony, they will be dressed in a crewneck sweater with large black and red checks on a navy blue background, mini-dogtooth pants and a cap with pom-poms. Both limited edition sweaters are embellished with five gold Olympic circles surmounted by the Berber lion symbol of the British national team.

adidas x Team Germany

The outfits have been designed and manufactured by German brand adidas, with the use of the red, gold and black national color scheme.
The black tiger, the animal sign for the Chinese New Year 2022, symbolizes the athletes’ strength and endurance while the use of “timeless black” in the uniforms is said to create a “connection to the host country”.

Team Australia x Sportscraft

Australian brand Sportscraft will be the official outfitter for the Australian Winter Olympic Team.

The highlight piece is the longline wool blend coat in deep navy that is lined with the names of all 265 Australian Winter Olympians, from the first Winter competitor Kenneth Kennedy in 1936 to recent Olympic champions like Alisa Camplin, Torah Bright and Steven Bradbury.

The collection will also feature a tapered chino pants in an emerald hue along with a gray marle crew neck knit for the male athletes or a turtle neck knit for the females, in addition to accessories such as official wool scarf, necktie and belt.

FILA x the Netherlands

Korean sports fashion company FILA will be equipping the Dutch Olympic team for the upcoming Winter Olympic Games, with an aim to provide TeamNL an unambiguous and recognisable appearance, A new skating suit for the team was unveiled earlier in January. Designed in orange color tone, it applied innovations that improve comfort, aerodynamics, speed and safety for the skaters.
