Sharp president blasts gov. for curbing Japan’s competitive edge

The president of Sharp  Corp. lambasted the Japanese government for failing to create a better environment for "fair international competition", stating the yen’s strength and Japan’s corporate-tax rate are putting the electronics maker at a great disadvantage against its South Korean competitors.

"Our [South Korean] rivals are flooded with government subsidies, when we are left dealing with a strong yen and high taxes," says President Mikio Katayama at a press event in Tokyo Friday.
