International auction house Phillips announced their collaboration with virtual human, MonoC, created by Gusto Collective. Together they are launching a generative, data driven NFT artwork, ‘Drowning in Love’, that will be sold in Phillips’ upcoming online auction, ‘My Kawaii Valentine’, open virtually from 14th February to 22nd February 2022.
The unprecedented digital artwork places art collectors investing in art at the heart of the creative process as a minimum of 100,000 data points collected live and in real time from bidding on all lots in the online auction will drive algorithms designed to render MonoC’s creative.
Generative music by Hong Kong composer Terrence Ma (T-Ma), with whom the artist has collaborated for this work, has been written to complement the work and will unfold as the visual grows. During the seven days of the online auction ‘Drowning in Love’ will be seen as a live tele-cast embedded into the Phillips’ website, from which viewers can witness the work being rendered by unique data points as they are gathered.
