Tesco helps promote Thai fruits abroad

The UK-based retailer Tesco Plc will increase the value of Thai products sold though its global store chain by 8 percent to THB13.5 billion (USD426.9 million) this year.

Exports of Thai fruits are expected to double this year, thanks to the "Taste of Thailand" campaign at over 200 stores in the UK.

After the European Union lifts the ban on Thai frozen chicken imports in July, Tesco will import the meat to be sold through its global network this year, said John Christie, CEO of Ek-Chai Distribution System Co, the operator of Tesco Lotus in Thailand.
