Aeon Co. said it will open a new supermarket this week in the coastal Chinese city of Qingdao, despite the attack and looting of an outlet during violent anti-Japan protests last month.
The retailer said it will open its ninth store in the city, Qingdao Aeon Marina City Store, on Thursday as scheduled as "local demand remains strong".
The new supermarket is located in a residential area in the southern part of Qingdao, Shandong Province, where development is under way. It is Aeon’s 49th outlet in China.
