M&S well placed to convert top-up shoppers and lift profits

Marks & Spencer could add as much as GBP35 million (USD53.7 million) to gross profits by persuading occasional food shoppers to purchase more often, according to Eithne O’Leary, analyst at Oriel Securities, a British stockbroking firm.

"Our analysis suggests that for every 1 percent of occasional shoppers that can be persuaded to adopt a more regular shopping pattern, 3 percent can be added to food sales," said O’Leary.
