Skyworth joins LG Display’s China JV

Chinese television maker Skyworth Digital Holdings Ltd said on 22 March it has joined South Korea’s LG Display Co. and state-owned Guangzhou-Kaide Technologies Development Co. in a venture that will build a USD4 billion liquid crystal display plant in China.

The joint venture, to be called LG Display (China), was first announced by LG Display in November 2009 as part of its effort to tap into the fast-growing Chinese LCD market. Other major flat-panel makers, such as global market leader Samsung Electronics Co. and Taiwan’s AU Optronics Corp., have announced similar investment plans.
