Alibaba’s Cainiao expands business coverage

Alibaba’s logistics affiliate Cainiao Network said on Friday it hopes to further expand its network of service to cover more than 1,700 domestic colleges by the end of this year to better serve the booming packages from online shopping orders.

It will also team up with 100 domestic colleges this year to set up flagship Cainiao stations to deal with peak period for package deliveries.

Courier delivery staff could drop the packages from online shopping sites such as Alibaba’s retail platform Taobao and Tmall as well as third party e-commerce sites at Cainiao Network’s service points and students could pick them up later, using their personal identification card and a verification code sent to their mobile phones, saving trouble for both parties.
