Taiwan premier warns of serious consequences of not signing ECFA with China

Taiwan’s government is actively talking with China about signing an economic cooperation framework agreement (ECFA) to minimise the impact of the free trade agreement between China and ASEAN on Taiwan’s exports. Premier Wu Den-yih has warned that 90 percent of Taiwan’s exported products overlap South Korea’s and thus exports will be seriously hit without the ECFA because South Korea is negotiating to join the free trade agreement.
