Coles faces court over trolley staff pay

The ombudsman of Australia’s national workplace relations tribunal Fair Work has accused Coles of underpaying trolley collectors and is taking the supermarket giant and three contractors to court.

According to a Federal Court action, six collectors were underpaid AUD149,530 (USD144,658) between January 2010 and July 2011.

The collectors, Indian men aged between 27 and 33, worked at three shopping centres in Adelaide’s northern suburbs and one at Gawler, north of the city.
