Wal-Mart’s grocery sales hit 51 percent

Wal-Mart stores reported last week that sales of grocery products exceeded half of all its sales for the first time in 2009.

In its annual 10-K filing with the US’s Securities and Exchange Commission, the discounter, based in the US, cited 51 percent of sales from groceries in the most recently ended fiscal year, compared with 49 percent in the preceding year.
