Japan and US agree to resume talks on beef

The Japanese and US farm ministers agreed on Thursday to resume talks aimed at solving the lingering dispute over the restrictions on US beef imports stemming from concerns about mad cow disease.

Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Hirotaka Akamatsu said the US proposed considering an intermediate measure to deal with the issue, including the option of easing the age limit of the cattle.
