Managers struggle to connect with China’s Generation Y

Some 240-million strong, China’s Generation Y will one day be the pillar of the workforce, and managing its members is proving an unprecedented challenge for some.

Individualism, consumerism and tech-savviness are considered class Gen-Y traits. The fickleness and unpredictability of Gen-Y staff, and their readiness to quit their jobs, has left stores struggling in a thriving consumer market, according to Gabriel Fung Wai-kwok, COO of fashion retailer Bellvilles.
