Japanese wages stagnated in August

Japanese wages unexpectedly stagnated in August, failing to rise for the first time in six months, adding to concern that consumers won’t be able to drive growth in place of slowing demand abroad.

Monthly wages, including overtime and bonuses, were unchanged from a year earlier at JPY274,232 (USD3,287), the Japanese Health, Labour and Welfare Ministry said on Monday.
