Marks & Spencer has launched a drive to become the world’s most sustainable retailer by 2015, introducing a raft of new commitments under its ethical Plan A programme.
80 new major commitments will be launched under Plan A which will mean that every one of the GBP2.7 billion (USD4.10 billion) products it sells will have at least one sustainable element. It has set a target of converting half of its products by 2015 and its entire product range by 2020.
Other initiatives include launching a five-year GBP50 million (USD75.9 million) Plan A incubator fund to support the development of new Plan A products and services at the retailer.
