Fed-up Australian customers giving false details online

Australian companies ask their customers for too much personal information to do simple transactions online, so much so that customers have begun to treat official forms like social media and enter false details, the privacy commissioner warns.

Speaking at Privacy Awareness Week, Timothy Pilgrim said people did not trust companies to handle their personal information, and suspected the motives of firms that asked for too many details.

This posed a problem for companies that relied on accurate and ”usable” information, he said.
