Alibaba Group Holding Limited kicked off the 2019 11.11 Global Shopping Festival at midnight in China.

As of 11:00, total GMV exceeded US$25.25 billion (RMB176.61 billion). Total GMV topped US$24 billion (RMB168.2 billion) as of 10:04:49, surpassing the total GMV of 2017’s 11.11.The number of delivery orders exceeded 100 million in 8 minutes and 1 second; this was 59 minutes faster than last year’s record. Within the first hour of shopping, 84 brands surpassed US$14.2 million (RMB100 million) in GMV, including Apple, Philips, Siemens, Dyson, Adidas, Skechers, Fila, Uniqlo, Gap, L’oreal, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Shiseido and Aptamil.
In the hours leading up to the shopping event, Alibaba’s video streaming platform Youku hosted the fifth annual countdown gala, which included interactive performances from Taylor Swift and other international and domestic celebrities. Hosted at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, the gala was broadcast live across nearly 30 platforms and TV channels.
