Summer breeze picks up Thailand’s 7-Eleven sales

Sales of 7-Eleven convenience stores in Thailand grew by 10 percent in the first quarter of this year, doubling the chain’s earlier projection, despite a post-flood slip in the first two months.

The purchasing power of consumers was not good in January and February as people spent more on home furnishing products to restore their houses after the floods rather than on consumer products, noted Piyawat Titasattavorakul, managing director of CP All Plc, the chain’s operator in Thailand.

Sales at all 7-Eleven stores in the first two months grew by only 4 percent, slightly lower than earlier projection of 5 percent.
