Rising rents force job cuts at Australia’s discount stores

The challenging retail landscape in Australia has caught up with Retail Adventures, the discount shop operator owned by the Kathmandu-founder Jan Cameron.

The company is expected to announce cost-cutting efforts on Friday, including job losses.

BusinessDay has learnt 60 staff were let go on Thursday from the company’s Sydney headquarters and managers were being asked to take extensive pay cuts. More staff cuts are expected.
