Indian cotton prices stable in the coming season

With anticipated increased demand, particularly for export of good quality cotton, Indian farmers have been advised to cultivate cotton for the September-October season to get better prices for their crop.

To help farmers take a better decision on the crop pattern, the Domestic and Export Marketing Intelligence Cell (DEMIC) analysed prevailing prices in Tirupur and Konganapuram markets and conducted a trade survey in cotton markets.

The survey showed that cotton prices (a long staple) would be around INR3,100 (USD66.08) to INR3,300 (USD70.34) between November 2010 and March 2011, DEMIC sources said.
