Debenhams, which has around 160 department stores in Europe as well as franchise stores in Asia, said like-for-like sales rose 0.3 percent in the 26 weeks to 27 February.
Gross transaction value, excluding the performance from Danish department store Magasin du Nord, which Debenhams acquired in November 2009, was 1.7 percent higher during the first half than in the same period last year.
Debenhams said that it continued to make gains in market share with menswear, kidswear and homewares increasing over the 24 weeks to 31 January, according to Kantar Worldpanel data. However, in womenswear, Debenhams’ market share was impacted by its programme of converting space to own-bought labels.
