China Telecom Corporation Limited has won four corporate governance grand awards in "Asian Excellence Recognition Awards 2012" organised by Corporate Governance Asia, a regional journal on corporate governance. The awards include the Best CEO (Wang Xiaochu), the Best CFO (Wu Andi), the Best Corporate Social Responsibility and the Best Investor Relations.
Corporate Governance Asia commended that China Telecom assumed social responsibility, serviced its clients, cared for its employees and rewarded to its shareholders while maintaining its stable operation and healthy growth. The Company has aligned its development with the economic, social and environmental development, aiming to promote the harmony and advancement of the whole society.
Asian Excellence Recognition Awards is designed to recognise Asian companies who perform excellently in investor communications, business ethics, corporate social responsibility, environmental practices and financial performance.
China Telecom also received the Platinum Award for All-Round Excellence and the Most Promising Company in China in the poll of Corporate Awards 2011 and China’s Most Promising Companies by The Asset, a financial magazine in Asia.
For the two awards by The Asset, the judging criteria mainly include financial performance, management acumen, corporate governance, social responsibility, environmental responsibility, investor relations, competitiveness within the industry, and the company’s growth strategy with due reference to the research reports by professional investment analysts.
