South Korean firm LG Electronics on Wednesday reported a three-fold jump in net profit to KRW675 billion (USD590 million) in the January-March quarter of this year, based on strong demand for flat-panel TVs.
A year ago, the company had reported a net profit of KRW200 billion (USD142 million) during the same period, said a spokesperson.
The company’s sales rose 4 percent from the previous year to KRW13.7 trillion (USD11.9 billion) for the three-month period ending March 2010.
