EBay wants more of Telkom online store

US online sales giant eBay is seeking to increase its ownership in Metra Plasa, a joint venture with Telekomunikasi Indonesia that focuses on e-commerce business, Telkom’s acting chief said on Monday.

Metra Plasa, the operator of local e-commerce site blanja.com, is 60 percent controlled by Multimedia Nusantara, a subsidiary of Telkom, while the remaining 40 percent is owned by eBay.

"eBay can raise their stake to 49 percent. They also have the option to become the majority shareholder [in Metra Plasa]. There are phases to get there, they actually want to do it fast, but I can’t disclose much," said Indra Utoyo, acting president director at Telkom.
