Australia’s online retail expanding at fast pace, says NAB

The pace of online spending in Australia eased slightly in January, reflecting the post-Christmas lull, yet it remains buoyant compared to the traditional sector, according to a new index of internet commerce.

The NAB online retail sales index rose 19.4 percent in the year to January to a reading of 158.9 points, easing slightly from 21.9 percent growth in the year to December, when the index hit 184.8 points.

"Online sales exhibit stronger growth and less seasonality than traditional retail," the report concluded.
