HTC to start marketing Vive via retail shops in Japan

HTC has announced that it will hold a press conference in Tokyo on July 7 to promote sales of its HTC Vive through physical retail shops in Japan.

Currently HTC is selling online the Vive through its official website in Japan.

In addition to setting up an experience shop jointly with the local partner Bandai Namco in Tokyo, HTC also aims to establish a retail chain with more than 100 business outlets in Japan by the end of 2016, according to company chairperson and CEO Cher Wang.

Since Japan is a major digital gaming market globally, sales of the Vive through retail channel will help ramp up significantly shipments of the VR device in Japan, said market observers.
