Seven-Eleven plans 1,500 new stores in Japan

Major convenience store chain Seven-Eleven Japan Co. plans to open 1,500 new stores in Japan in the year through February 2014, more than the 1,350 stores planned for the current business year, sources said on Monday.

The retailer had about 14,200 stores nationwide as of the end of June and the number is expected to exceed 15,600 in February 2014, even after the number of closed stores is subtracted.
