Lawson Inc. plans to open a convenience store in Shanghai on Friday that features "Ultraman", the Japanese superhero television series that is also popular in China.
The company aims to boost the number of stores in the region around Shanghai to 1,500 by the end of 2015, according to Manabu Matsuura, president of Lawson’s China unit, Shanghai Hualian Lawson Co. Lawson opened its first store in Shanghai in 1996 and currently operates 350 outlets in the city.
