Activewear retailer Lorna Jane comes to Singapore

Lorna Jane Singapore - Retail in Asia

Activewear brand Lorna Jane has opened its first retail store in Singapore.

Located in the heart of the Central Business District, the new store is sat within a heritage-style building along the trendy Ann Siang Hill strip.

Before the store debut, the luxe gym gear brand was stocked online in Singapore via e-commerce platform Zalora.

Athletic apparel is growing twice as fast as the wider fashion industry, according to IBISWorld, whose analysts estimate that one item of Lorna Jane clothing is sold every 19 seconds in Australia.

Asia is Lorna Jane’s focus for 2017, as part of the Australian brand’s plans to open across the globe.

“I want to take active living all over the world. It sounds crazy, but I think you have to be a bit crazy in this game,” founder Lorna Jane Clarkson, told Courier Mail in an interview.

The Australian brand came to Asia for the first time ever in 2014, opening a store in Malaysia, in Kuala Lumpur’s Bangsar Village 2.

In October last year, Lorna Jane signed a partnership with British department store Debenhams to open six concession stores in flagship stores in Oxford Street, Birmingham, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool One and Glasgow.

The British debut added to the 155 Nordstrom corners the brand has across the U.S.

Lorna Jane is currently available in Australia, the United States, Asia, China, Europe, the UK, the Middle East and Africa.

Founded in 1989, Lorna Jane opened its first store in Brisbane. Lorna Jane is estimated to be worth $500 million as of 2016.
