Luxury watches Melbourne’s Collins Street space

Luxury watch retailer Omega will open a flagship store at the Paris end of Collins Street – Melbourne’s premier retail destination – after a three-year hunt for space.

The watchmaker, owned by the Swiss-listed Swatch Group, has pipped a raft of other luxury brands to take a shopfront at 179 Collins Street set to be vacated by high-end Danish consumer electronics retailer Bang & Olufsen.

Like many other global luxury brands, Swatch has been circling Collins Street for years in a hunt for retail space to counter competitors Cartier, Bulgari, Monards, Watches of Switzerland and The Hour Glass, which have settled in the strip.
