China’s Tan Mujiang has opened its first flagship store in Canada.
Located at the Scarborough shopping center in Toronto, the new store – dubbed ‘HOO2’ – is positioned next to Danish jewellery and charm brand Pandora, and a host of other global brands.
The new Toronto store opened its doors on March 8 with much fanfare, said Tan Manujiag in a press release, thanks to the brand’s traditional ’ unique appeal to local Canadians.
Designed with the Chinese brand’s bright neon orange logo, the store façade is eye-catching. Inside the interior boasts an elegant yet contemporary look, with dark flooring and greenery offsetting the Chinese wooden hair accessories — made from natural materials and traditional Chinese handicrafts.
The Canadian store is the company’s second store overseas, following the opening of its store at Hong Kong Telford Plaza earlier this year.
However, the company has plans for its own physical retail expansion, and plans to open up to 12 stores overseas this year by operating franchises. It has set up a national general franchising model and hopes to find new franchisees interested in the brand.
“Our goal is to popularize our brand by operating our own franchise shops all over the world and not only get orders from overseas businessmen,” explained Zhang Chuanjin, offline market director.
Since December 2013, Tan Muijang has acquired more than 80 patents and created more than 40 accurate processes to improve their products.

It currently retails in 1,200 shops in Mainland China, and via its four stores in Hong Kong and one in Singapore. It is also available to New Opening,the U.S. and Canadian market via online shops on Amazon and Ebay. The firm is the sole-listed company in the global wooden comb industry.
