India’s Big Bazaar sees 20pc increase in sales during shopping festival

India’s Future Group-owned value retailer Big Bazaar expects a 20 percent spurt in sales over last year during the fifth edition of its Mahabachat annual shopping festival, which this year is being promoted as a fight against inflation. The retailer is eyeing revenues of INR 350-400 crore (INR3.5-4 billion, USD74.5-85.2 million) from the five-day shopping festival, which started yesterday.

Around 30 percent of Mahabachat offers will be available online at Big Bazaar.
