Shiseido acquires American brand Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare

Shiseido Company announced it has acquired American brand Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare, as the Japanese beauty giant continues to grow its roster of prestige skincare within its portfolio.

Shiseido Americas Corporation, a subsidiary of Shiseido, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire DDG Skincare Holdings LLC, the owner of Dr Dennis Gross Skincare, according to a press release, with plans to “accelerate and strengthen” its prestige skincare business which includes its namesake Shiseido brand and Clé de Peau Beauté.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Launched in 2000 by New York dermatologist Dr. Dennis Gross and his wife Carrie Gross, Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare products leverage active ingredients with proven skincare benefits; rooted in research, dermatology, and technology.

As part of the Shiseido portfolio, Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare will leverage the Tokyo-based company’s global support network, commercial experience, and R&D expertise.

Additionally, the acquisition bolsters the company’s geographic diversification and reinforces its investment in the Americas, with an aim to accelerate growth and increase profitability in the region.

Earlier this month, Shiseido announced the launch of Shiseido Long Term Investments for the Future Ventures, a newly formed company, which will be a vehicle for investing in innovative early-stage companies within the beauty wellness space.
