Barely four years into its Indian operations, sports lifestyle company Puma has set up 80 stores in India and is scouting for opportunities to further expand its reach into tier II and III cities in addition to its presence in the metropolitan cities. Puma Sports India’s Managing Director Rajiv Mehta said that "Half of the stores are company-owned and the rest are franchisee operated. Our association with Deccan Chargers [a franchise that represents the city of Hyderabad in the Indian Premiere League (IPL) cricket tournament] over the last two years has been extremely fruitful and we see this essay of IPL helping us build our brand along with the most popular sport."
