Birmingham City signs deal with Chinese supplier

Birmingham City’s new Hong Kong owner has agreed to a club-record sponsorship deal with Chinese sportswear manufacturer Xtep International Holdings that will also mean the club’s matches are shown on China Central Television.

Xtep will pay HKD90 million (USD11.6 million) to Carson Yeung’s Premier League club in a five-year contract that starts in August.

Xtep – which is replacing Umbro, a unit of Nike Inc. – will also supply Birmingham with HKD10 million worth of training gear bearing the joint Xtep-BCFC logo in the deal.
